Now that you are thinking about growing season, think about participating in Grow a Row! The Goffstown Network Food Pantry is asking our local gardener friends to plant an extra row of your favorite vegetable and donate the produce to the Goffstown Network Food Pantry. Drop off your donations at the Food Pantry or at the Goffstown Public Library. Help your neighbors enjoy the fresh offerings of summer!

That’s right, we now have Goffstown Public Library cards for your keychains! New Goffstown Public Library patrons receive this card free. *Current patrons can replace their old library card with a new card for only $2.00 to receive a keychain card. Easy, convenient, and accessible! Stop in for yours today!

*Please note, replacing your card will make your old barcode/card invalid.

**Note to users of our downloadable service: If you replace your library card and you have unfilled requests in the downloadable service, you will lose them. At this time OverDrive doesn’t transfer unfilled requests to a new library card number. Please call us at 497-2102 if you have questions.**

Online Book Clubs & Tumblebooks

The ONLINE BOOK CLUBS, where subscribers have received daily book samples via email, will no longer be available after March 31. In addition, TUMBLEBOOKS LIBRARY, online books for kids, will no longer be available after April 16.

I returned home from Philadelphia last Saturday night, but did have some time to attend two programs before traveling. The first program was “In Order to Form a More Perfect Union: Library Access as an Emerging Constitutional Right” and was an interesting discussion of the First Amendment and making sure the public has due process in our library policies, specifically regarding behavior.

The second program was a discussion group titled “Welcome to the Board: Create a Dynamic Online Orientation for New Library Trustees Using Free Online Tools.” This was a good discussion and one I will be exploring with the Library Board of Trustees this year, as we continue to grapple with beneficial orientation of new board members.

Thank you for supporting professional development and my attendance at PLA! Conferences like this keep our library on the cutting edge of innovative library service that the Goffstown community deserves.
